Multistrada 1200 S Touring-Engine

 Multistrada 1200 S Touring-Engine Review
Ride-by-Wire
The Ride-by-Wire RbW system is an electronic interface between the twistgrip and the engine which decides the ideal power response depending on the riding mode selected and according to the rider’s throttle input. The twistgrip no longer has a throttle cable connected directly to the throttle body butterflies, but instead delivers a signal to a control unit, which in turn operates the butterfly opening. The RbW system uses three different mappings to regulate the power delivery. The three maps offer 150hp with a sports-type delivery, 150hp with a progressive delivery suitable for touring and 100hp with progressive delivery for city or off-road use.
 Stump Guard
The bike is suitable for off-road riding. Off-road use is enabled by the extra-long travel, reduced-weight suspension, as well as a robust and effective structural sump guard in aluminium which protects the oil sump from bumpy ground .
Emissions
On the new Testastretta 11° engine, this angle has been reduced from 41°, used in the Testastretta Evoluzione engine which powers the 1198, to just 11°. As a result, the fresh inlet charge flow is less compromised by the exiting exhaust gases, resulting in a much smoother combustion in addition to improved fuel economy and lower exhaust emissions. Unburnt hydrocarbon emissions (pre-catalyser) are reduced by up to 65% and specific fuel consumption (and consequent CO2 emissions) by up to 15% (Euro3).
 Vacural® Crankcases
The Testastretta 11° features vacuum die-cast crankcases, formed using Vacural® technology, a process that achieves a significant weight saving and ensures consistent wall thickness and increased strength.
15,000 mile major service intervals
The Multistrada 1200 has been subjected to the most intensive development program ever. With the goal of setting the bar even higher, Ducati developed revolutionary new features for the 4-bikes-in-1 concept and took aim at industry benchmarks to create a model that would go the distance, both figuratively and literally.
 Torque Assisted slipper-Clutch
The Multistrada 1200 features an oil bath clutch with ‘slipper’ function and super-light feel at the lever. Its design uses a progressive self-servo mechanism that presses the plates together when under drive from the engine, enabling the reduction of the clutch spring rates. This results in a much lighter clutch lever at the handlebar, ideal in stop-start traffic or long journeys. When the drive force is reversed (over-run), the same mechanism reduces the pressure on the clutch plates, enabling them to provide a race-like ‘slipper’ action, which reduces the destabilizing effect of the rear-end under aggressive down-shifting and provides a much smoother feeling when closing the throttle or down-shifting under normal riding conditions

2012 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Voyager ABS

2012 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Voyager Touring Bike Photos and Features
Anybody that has had the itch to just strap on their helmets and heed the call of the open road, theKawasaki Vulcan 1700 Voyager is the perfect bike to scratch it.
Complete with all the full-dress amenities that have become necessary to keep riders and passengers comfortable on long journeys, the 1700 Voyager blends muscle car-inspired styling with a powerful engine that helps eat up the miles, delivering a memorable experience that riders always crave in an all-powerful touring bike.
As far as it’s design, the 1700 Voyager is the picture of aggressive functionality, featuring a large frame-mounted fairing, beautifully integrated luggage that stows a week’s worth of gear, a comfortable saddle, electronic cruise control, a high-fidelity sound system, and an optional K-ACT anti-lock/integrated braking system, among other things.
Giving the 1700 Voyager the perfect design balance with its up-standard performance characteristics,Kawasaki fitted the touring bike with a smooth and torquey 1,700cc V-twin engine that features liquid cooling, four-valve cylinder heads, and a single overhead cam that’s been setup for big-time mid-range power. The Voyager also has a fuel injection and exhaust systems that have been tuned to deliver peak torque and horsepower at slightly higher rpm than the Classic models, which is optimal for an open-road tourer.
Additional touring functionality for the 1700 Voyager is provided by the Voyager’s beefy but easy-to-squeeze clutch, which features six damping springs and progressive three-stage engagement for easier shifting under hard acceleration.
Technological features are also a big part of the touring bike’s overall package, including a fully electronic throttle valve system, which works in concert with the Voyager’s Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system to enhance engine response without dulling the big Vee’s distinctive throb.

2012 Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS

You can never have enough of a good thing, and in the case of the Kawasaki Concours 14, that’s exactly what you’re going to get.
Expertly mixing high performance and long-distance functionality, the Concours 14 is the kind of touring bike that inspires riders to pull out their big maps and set out for the open road. It’s no wonder the Concours has been around for this long; it offers plenty of style, power, and functionality.
The Concours 14 comes with several features that enhance comfort, convenience, and safety, solidifying its position atop the sport touring heap. The bike’s dynamic bodywork increases comfort by routing heat away from the rider and passenger while a tall, electrically adjustable windscreen creates a calm cockpit experience with help from ducts above the instrument panel, balancing pressure areas inside and outside the screen. The bike also has handgrip heaters that come as standard, providing comfort even when outside temperatures become unbearable.
Complimenting the dynamic design of the Concours 14 is an engine that packs a wallop. The amazing and thoroughly modern 1,352cc DOHC inline-four engine sourced from the legendary ZX-14 sports bike generates excellent low- and mid-range power, all followed by a top-end rush that would turn most open-class sportbikes green with envy. An advanced fuel injection, ram-air induction, and variable valve timing all add up to an exhilarating ride.
On top of all that, the Concours also comes with technological features that enhance the riding experience. The bike’s K-ACT (Kawasaki Advanced Coactive-braking Technology) braking system offers two modes of linked, anti-lock braking and great overall performance. Likewise, a high-tech traction control system not only reduces wheelspin on slick surfaces, offering riders more confidence-inspiring feedback, but it can be easily switched off at the rider’s discretion.
Overall, the Concours 14 ABS is as action-packed as any touring bike on the market. Just goes to show what 26 years of experience does in honing a perfectly well-tuned machine.

2011 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Voyager Review,Specifications and Pictures

The touring bike segment isn’t complete without an offering from Kawasaki. In the years that it has been around, the Japanese motorcycle brand has produced nothing short of some of the best tourers on the market, including the original Voyager and the sport-touring Concours models.
As recently as 2009, Kawasaki introduced a new member to its touring family, one that comes with all the bells and whistles of a fully loaded bike. Classical design meets new-school technology - that’s the package being offered by the Vulcan 1700 Voyager.
As the flagship of the Vulcan 1700 family, the 2011 Voyager boasts all the stuff you’ll need for such adventurous treks: a smooth and shockingly torquey 1,700cc V-twin powerplant, large frame-mounted fairing, beautifully integrated luggage that stows plenty of gear, a comfortable saddle, electronic cruise control, high-fidelity sound system, optional K-ACT anti-lock/integrated braking system, and the sort of design acumen and dependability Kawasaki is renowned for.

Body and Design

In terms of overall design, the Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Voyager personifies all the qualities of an all-world cruiser. The powerful and imposing look is highlighted by the plenty of Kawasaki styling cues, including the large frame-mounted windshield fairing that allows the rider to have ample wind and weather protection for all those crazy long-distance runs. Mounting this beautifully sculpted fairing to the frame transfers any wind buffeting to the bike rather than the handlebar, thereby reducing rider fatigue on longer trips. The Vulcan 1700 Voyager also has leg shields that incorporate effective venting to keep engine heat off the rider’s legs during slower going, as well as a full complement of stylish and integrated luggage. Sealed, lockable, and top-opening side cases with 10 gallons of volume partner come together with a color-matched, 13.2-gallon lockable tail trunk that has ample space to accommodate plenty of items, including - if you so wish - two large full-face helmets.
Comfortable seats are also part of the Vulcan 1700 Voyager package. These seats, as well as the accompanying backrest and floorboards, are sculpted to provide additional support for all-day touring.
The classic mix of retro-futuristic design is exemplified by a multi-function LCD display that’s mixed in with the retro analog dials in the center of the instrument console. The display is controlled by switches on the right handlebar and features a gear-position indicator, clock, odometer, dual trip meters, remaining range, and average fuel consumption. Then there’s the audio system, something the Vulcan 1700 Voyager has in the form of a 40-watt, twin-speaker audio system that features a three-band (FM/AM/WX) radio mixed in with compatibility features for iPods, an XM radio tuner, or a CB radio unit.

Engine Performance

The Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Voyager is powered by a monstrous 1,700 cc four-stroke, liquid-cooled, SOHC, four valve per cylinder V-twin engine that features all of the latest in Kawasaki technology, including, and not limited to, the company’s new Kawasaki Advanced Coactive Braking Technology system. Otherwise known as K-ACT, the system uses advanced electronics to translate the rider’s braking inputs from both the front lever and rear pedal into smooth, balanced deceleration and maximum stopping performance. In addition to the K-ACT system, the new Vulcan 1700 Voyager also comes with a fully electronic throttle valve system that works with the Voyager’s Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system to enhance engine response without compromising the engine’s power specs. This system also helps the ECU deliver ultra-precise air/fuel metering and more accurate idle speed control.
Going back to heart of the engine, the 1700 Voyager comes equipped with liquid cooling, four-valve cylinder heads, and a single overhead cam setup that allows the bike to achieve mid-range power while also being capable of pumping out exorbitant amounts of torque over a wide rpm range.

Chassis and Suspension

Despite its muscular and beefy look, the Vulcan 1700 Voyager handles like a much lighter machine, thanks in large part to an optimal chassis design and excellent suspension set-up that a features a double-cradle steel frame and dual air-shocks offering 3.1" of rear suspension travel. The shocks feature 4-way rebound damping adjustability to help ensure predictable handling and a comfortable ride.
